SEPTEMBER 22 – 24 ‘A CHI NON PIACE VINO SARA TOLTA L’ACQUA – ‘TO HE WHO DISLIKES WINE WILL BE TAKEN AWAY WATER’ (old Tuscan saying)
This is the middle of the grape harvest in Tuscany so we couldn’t not dedicate this workshop to wine, even if it is always an integral part of our lifestyle Tuscan cooking workshops.
As always we will be cooking a lot, eating, talking about food, cooking some more. The middle day is dedicated to wine (and food of course). We will drive into Chianti wine territory, dodging tractors with grape-laden trailers, the very air heady from crushed grapes and fermenting wine, to one of our very favourite fine Chianti wine producers which we will take a closer look at and then relax over a wine tasting lunch.
We will then drive on through the vineyards to a cheese maker we discovered at a Slowfood international Cheese Exhibition, who not only has been curious and talented enough to have achieved international recognition for her fabulous sheep cheeses, but who lives on an enchantingly beautiful farm and is married to a wine maker of repute. We will visit his wine cellar and her dairy and then sample both in a totally charming setting.
At home for a dip in the pool maybe, perhaps a little more cooking, for sure a glass of wine and kneading our sourdough bread before sitting down to a light dinner of our previous preparations.
